I don't think there's anything that makes me feel like more of a put together woman than slapping on a face mask. This is for a couple of reasons-
Masks can be expensive but I feel good using my big girl money to treat myself to one.
A mask pairs oh so nicely with a glass of wine.
Masking is a great excuse to get out of impending plans. You don't tell your friends that you'll be masking obvi, but even if you did, I think they'd understand. Actually, cancel the plans all together and invite them over to join in on the 'promaskinating' fun.
Here's a look at the masks I'm loving at the moment.
I usually use all 3 of these at once, listed below in order of application. But they also pack a punch used on separate occasions!
Lush Cup O' Coffee Face & Body Mask, $10.95
The smell of bold coffee hits you in the face right when you open this jar. Cup O' Coffee is a runny texture, and should be applied in a thin layer on the face and/or body. Kaolin clay is the cleansing agent, and does a great job exfoliating dead skin cells. Kaolin clay also absorbs excess oils. Agave syrup and a mix of plant oils keep the skin moisturized. The real benefit from this mask is the ground coffee beans. To remove the mask, I wet my hands and begin to gently massage my skin. The coffee grounds act as an additional exfoliant! Cup O' Coffee leaves my skin feeling baby soft, with a rosy glow. Totally use this if you have dry flaky skin.
Kiehl's Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, $32
Kiehl's calls this their 'instant facial' mask as it invigorates and brightens skin after every use. This is a more traditional mask in texture; it's a thick creamy paste that dries hard. The cleansing agent here is also Kaolin clay. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory that helps to brighten skin's appearance and keep skin's elasticity in tact! The cranberry seeds act as a natural exfoliant, as you gently massage your skin to rinse off the mask.
Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask, $22
Creamy, smooth, whipped to perfection. This is my favorite mask out of all three. It's the perfect juicy moisturizing finale to the two deep cleansing masks listed above. I apply this and let it sink in till it becomes transparent. Almond and soybean oils leave my skin feeling plumped and extra moisturized. There are also skin brightening ingredients in it like lemon and licorice root extract.
Let me know in the comments below what you love to do while masking.
Till next time..
